Wilderness Haven Log Cabin and Reems Creek Golf Club
So...........do you remember last week when it was 96* outside at 9:00 am with a
heat index of 118* that day? Yeah.....not me. I was up in Asheville,
NC enjoying waking up to 68* (yes, I said 68*) cool mornings, almost needing to
put on long sleeves to go outside. Let me describe to you a typical day at
Wilderness Haven.
We would wake up on one of the most comfortable King size beds that I have ever
slept on, walk down stairs, pour some coffee, grab my putter and walk outside
just inside to catch the sunrise. Walk over to the five (5) hole putting
green and practice a little putting before calling over to Reems Creek Golf Club
to see when we can get out and play. "Anytime you want, Mr. King" was the
answer that I heard from Michael, the pro shop attendant that assisted us.
The drive over to the golf course takes roughly 15 minutes. Once you
arrive, you realize that the next four hours are going to be very relaxing.
The course is beautiful, well maintained, lots of hills, and very green.
The ball travels a little further up there (Michael tells me that they are 3,000
ft above sea level), so I was able to get away with a few squirrelly shots.
The downhill shots are breath-taking. The golf course definitely has an
"Augusta" feel to it.
Reems Creek gets an A+++ review from me. I can't wait to go back this
fall.
On the way home, we stopped at a great little restaurant called Stoney Knob
Cafe. WOW!!!! It was a great place for my wife and I to have our two
year wedding anniversary dinner at. Oh yeah, did I forget mention that it
was our anniversary? Guys, I got to play golf on my anniversary.
What did you do?
Driving back to the beautifully lit log cabin, we got to drive through miles of
lightning bugs. It was such an awesome experience.
The next day we were able to drive up the Blue Ridge Parkway, slide down Sliding
Rock (well, my wife slid down, not me. The water was too cold). We
finished our day by hiking up the Moore Cove.
Overall I give Wilderness Haven an A+++++. The log cabin was extremely
clean. The (almost) wrap around porch was a great place to sit in the
rocking chairs and look out at the Blue Ridge Mountains, and of course the
putting green was a bunch of fun. I can see a bunch of drinks being drank
and a few dollars being won/lost on the putting green.

Paradise! We stayed at Wilderness Haven on our drive back from Surfside Beach, South Carolina. We arrived at 4 pm on a Sunday and found this paradise treat imaculatly clean and full of amenities. We had three girls 6,9,11 with us and they loved the foos ball table and the putting green. We enjoyed the large tub and the laundry facilities. We took in all of Asheville's sights including whitewater rafting, The Biltmore Estate, and the shopping. Wilderness Haven was very close to Asheville and easy to get to. The drive back to paradise after long days of touring was a perfect end to some awesome adventures. The decor was warm and inviting and plenty of room to spread out on the interior and outside the haven. We loved that EVERYTHING was already there! The only thing we didn't love was having to leave! Carolina Mornings was a delight to work with and they even called to let us know we left a watch! Terrific experience and well worth the money! Thanks for the memories Wilderness Haven! More...
